I think that some of my brothers and sisters have worried that they, perhaps, are not doing enough for Jesus Christ. I used to worry about this quite a bit. I used to fear that I needed to literally sell all that I had and hit the streets for Jesus Christ. Make no mistake about it though that before we “put our hands to the plow” for Jesus Christ, we need to understand this is no game and that there is no turning back. However, I do not believe that we, as Christians, have to live on the streets going door to door barefoot as the original disciples did. Read this verse again from Mark 5:
“And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him. Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.” This is what we need to do. This is what we are commanded to do – spread the Good Word, and of course, other places in the New Testament, like the Sermon on the Mount, for example, give us further instructions and commandments. This message is primarily for my brothers and sisters out there that were recently born again and find themselves worrying about this. And to fulfill all of this, Jesus Christ tells us in The Book of Revelation ” Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. ” Jesus Christ also proclaims in Luke 11 “…blessed are they that hear the Word of God, and keep it.” What does this mean? It means that we cannot get enough of God’s Good Word. It is a delicious divine loaf of Spiritual Bread and we crave it. We are always craving it and always searching the Scripture, and we are always thinking about Jesus Christ, our Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit all day long. And the more of The Word that is in our hearts, the more understanding God will give us. “For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.” – Jesus Christ in Matthew 13:12
To anyone on the outside looking in, this might all seem like a lot of fruitless work, but on the contrary, it is the only fruitful thing in existence. There is nothing else that matters. All else IS “vanity and vexation of spirit” without Jesus Christ. Once someone is born again and receives the Holy Spirit, that someone is filled with an enthusiasm that he or she has never known and there really are no words good enough to describe the sensation. We are inspired by the Holy Spirit to do good works and to stay in the Word, but it’s truly never work to do the will of God – it’s not hard to love and serve Him. It’s quite easy to delight in the Lord, and a true follower of Jesus Christ is continually compelled to share with others the joy that is in their hearts and the messages that the Holy Spirit reveals. Glory and Praise be to God in the name of Jesus Christ! Peace and Love to all my brothers and sisters in Christ and those soon to be!
